My name is Marcy Rogers. I create timeless films that spotlight and honour family legacy. My mission is to connect families with their stories and preserve them for generations to come.I am... The Documentarist.

My Background

My journey began on my 10th birthday, when I received my first camera.
It was a Kodak point and shoot. In high school, I took a photography class
and learned how to shoot and develop black and white film in a dark room.I was forever hooked. It was MAGIC! In 1986, I made a black-and-white documentary about life in Russia after a once in a life time school trip to Asia.This experience ignited my love of photojournalism and documentary photography at university. Fast forward. Today, I connect families with
their stories through visual storytelling to preserve their family legacy.

My Why

Family stories matter. The good, the bad and the beautiful. They are
the threads that weave together our collective tapestry of identity.When I am documenting, I am preserving memories and creating
bridges between generations that might otherwise never connect.Documenting creates a sense of understanding, empathy, connection
and belonging. The stories connect families with their history and
the preservation for generations to come.This is why I do what I do.
